What Gutters Cost in Denton, TX (2026)
Most single-story Denton homes pay $1,200 to $2,500 for full seamless gutter installation. Here's where inside that range your house lands, and why.
Price per foot, by material
Gutter work in North Texas is priced by the linear foot, installed. These are the ranges we're seeing across the DFW market right now:
| Material | Installed, per foot | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| Seamless aluminum | $6.50-$7.25 | What 9 out of 10 Denton homes should get. Light, never rusts, 20+ year life. |
| Vinyl (sectional) | $4.50-$5.00 | Cheapest on day one. Texas sun makes it brittle, the seams open up, and it sags in the August heat. We don't recommend it here. |
| Galvanized steel | $9.00-$9.50 | Tough against hail dents. It'll eventually rust where the coating wears through. A fair pick if hail is what keeps you up at night. |
| Copper | ~$28 | Beautiful, lasts for generations, costs four times as much. Historic districts and showpiece homes. |
If you want gutter guards, add roughly $3 to $8 per foot depending on the product. Micro-mesh sits at the top of that range, perforated screen at the bottom. More on when guards make sense (and when they don't) in our gutter guard guide.
A worked example: single-story off Loop 288
Say you've got a 2,000 square foot single-story with a fairly standard hip roof, the kind of house that fills the neighborhoods between Loop 288 and the university. That roofline usually needs 150 to 180 feet of gutter and five or six downspouts.
- 170 ft of 5" seamless aluminum at $6.75/ft: about $1,150
- Upgrade the two hardest-working downspouts to 3x4": add $60-$100
- Tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters: add $100-$250 (some quotes bury this, so ask)
Realistic total: $1,300 to $1,500. That's the middle of the market, and it's the middle because that's what the job takes.
The seven things that move your price
- A second story. Add 30 to 50%. Taller ladders, slower work, more risk.
- Upsizing to 6" gutter. Add $1 to $2 per foot. On a steep or big roof, this is the difference between gutters that work in a Denton spring storm and gutters that decorate the house. Our sizing guide will tell you whether you need it.
- Downspout count. Each extra downspout runs $75-$150 installed. Skimping on downspouts is how low bids stay low, and it's how gutters end up overflowing.
- Corners and miters. A cut-up roofline with eight inside corners takes more labor than a simple rectangle with four. More corners, higher per-foot number.
- Fascia repair. If the wood behind the old gutter is rotted, it has to be fixed before anything gets hung. Small sections run $8-$20 per foot. Nobody can quote this exactly until the old gutter comes down, so a fair contractor flags it up front as a possibility.
- Color matching. Standard white and clay cost nothing extra. Custom colors to match dark trim can add a little for special-order coil.
- Roof pitch. Steeper roofs shed water faster and are slower to work on. Both push the number up.
When repair beats replacement
Not every gutter problem is a new-gutter problem. A sagging run that needs re-hanging, a leaking corner, a downspout dumping at the slab: those are $150 to $450 fixes, not four-figure projects. You cross over into replacement when there's rust-through, seams opening every season, or metal that's been bent by ladders and hail one time too many. If you're not sure which side of that line you're on, that's what a repair assessment is for. We'll tell you straight if a $200 fix buys you five more years.
Why the cheap bid is usually the expensive one
The pattern goes like this: builder-minimum 5" gutter, downspouts spaced for a national average rainfall, hung fast on a new build off US-380. It works fine until the first real storm, when you're standing at the kitchen window watching a sheet of water come off the eave and land right at the slab. Denton averages about 38 inches of rain a year, and it doesn't arrive gently. May alone averages nearly five inches, a lot of it in bursts that dump an inch or two an hour. An undersized system overflows right at the slab line, and in our blackland clay that's a foundation problem wearing a gutter costume.
So when one bid comes in $400 under the others, look for what's missing. Count the downspouts. Ask about gauge. Ask if tear-off is included. The cheap bid usually isn't.
Cost questions we hear a lot
What do most Denton homeowners pay for gutters?
Full seamless aluminum on a single-story home: most jobs in Denton land between $1,200 and $2,500 installed. A bare-bones ranch with a simple roofline runs closer to $1,000. A two-story with a cut-up roof and oversized downspouts, closer to $3,000.
Why do quotes vary so much between companies?
Usually it's one of three things: what's included (tear-off and haul-away sometimes hide as a separate line item), the gauge of the aluminum (.027 vs .032), and how many downspouts they spec. A low quote with too few downspouts will overflow the first hard rain in May, and you'll be paying someone to come back out.
Is it cheaper to do it in winter?
Sometimes. Demand spikes after spring storms and during fall leaf season, and some crews will sharpen a price in January. The difference is usually modest, though. Schedule around what your house needs, not the calendar.
